Join ULI Toronto and University of Toronto's School of Cities for an evening celebrating the Toronto launch of Vancouversim by Larry Beasley. Vancouverism is the remarkable story, told by a key insider, about Vancouver’s dramatic transformation from a typical mid-sized North American city into an inspiring world-class metropolis celebrated for its liveability, sustainability, and vibrancy. Following a presentation on his book, Larry will join Jennifer Keesmaat in conversation. Listen as these city builders reflect on their tenures as Chief Planners of two of Canada's major urban regions.

Larry Beasley is the Distinguished Practice Professor of Planning at the University of British Columbia and the founding principal of Beasley and Associates, an international planning and urban design consultancy. He sits on many boards, including TransLink, British Columbia’s integrated transportation agency; and the National Capital Commission in Ottawa. He is a registered professional planner in Canada and the retired co-chief planner for the City of Vancouver. He is also a member of the Order of Canada.

Topics will also include tapping the innovation economy, the transformation of post war suburbs and the simplification of civic operations in dealing more effectively with ‘city building’ and stewardship.
